…for 290 pound ace pitcher C.C. Sabbathia, offer from your New York Yankees.
What the heck is this world coming to? Ok, I cant go on a rant on the salaries of players at this time. Its been happening for far too long. I remember when Donnie baseball signed a contract 20 years ago for $2 million a year and I was blown away. At least he was a true blue Yankee.
I cant remember the last huge FA signing in any sport that led directly to a Championship. If you can think of any, let me know. The irony is that he still needs time to think this offer over (2 weeks?). The Yankees do have to overpay to bring this “Fat Toad” to the big lights of Broadway, but honestly, if he passes on this rediculous offer, then eff him. That is a lot of donuts bagels and knishes you can buy with this loot.
Look, he was a horse last year and literally carried the Brewers into the playoffs. This contract is based on his “body of work”, which has been steady the last 3 years with the Tribe. Just hope he doesnt get complacent here. Yankee fans arent that patient…
I do like the trade of Wilson Betimet for Nick Swisher, who will now be the Yankees starting 1st baseman Very nice move….
Oh well, if we get him, I will root for the team in the new 2009 Yankee Stadium, but please stop the insanity, and passing along the prices onto the fans. I honestly cant go higher than $500 per ticket for a game against your red hot Cleveland Indians (replace team name here)….Pass me my $10 beer please!!!
